Ilaria is 2

10.10.2011. Another blessed day full of joy and emotions.

In the morning, unwrapping gifts:
a new pair of earrings ("baby earrings" are prepared for baby Maria)

and a baby doll, who crossed the Atlantic to reach Ilaria (thanks Michelle for help!!)

So we made it until Ilaria's birthday without a baby doll. And it worth the waiting (if you ask me):

Celebration in the evening, together with grandparents:
more gifts unwrapping

a lot of emotions when we sang "Happy birthday" to her

The cake decided not everything could be perfect on that day

so the candies melted
Anyway, Ilaria was far too excited to notice such minor detail...

Happy birthday, our sweet Ilaria! May your entire life be as happy as your first two years!
We love you to the moon and back!

Big love. Baby love.

We are well aware of the "big sister jealousy" that we will face here starting with October, when baby girl should be born. We have heard so many people speaking about it, that we don't have any doubt in our case will be the same. But we hope that in our case it won't be too critical. Why? Because Ilaria adores babies! All kind of babies:

printed ones

Her favorite authors of the moment are Baby Butt and Baby Walz, who wrote some wonderful babies supplies catalogs, read by her daily. They are both pretty tired of saying the same stories for her, daily, but some pages still stay together, even if they are less and less.
( the expression "favorite authors" belong to Adrian, which used to make fun on me by saying that I had a stage in my life when my favorite bestsellers books were Quelle and Otto catalogs ;-) )

baby dolls
We started having problems in park when she sets her eyes on some baby doll owned by another child. She immediately goes there and puts her hands on the baby doll and she wouldn't let it go without some tears on her cheeks. So I've already decided the gift for her birthday to be a baby doll. I hope we will resist two more months without it.

unborn babies
Ilaria already adores her unborn sister

She kisses

and hugs

and kisses and hugs some more my belly, often. She will be a loving big sister for our baby, that's for sure. But she seems to have a problem with the name Rebeca (my no.1 for the moment). When I ask her: "where is our baby?" she points toward my belly, her face all smiles. Then I tell her: "here is baby Rebeca". Immediately the riposte comes from Ilaria: "No!". "Then baby Maria, maybe?" (name Maria in Adrian's no.1 now). And then Ilaria says: "Yes!". Does she know or fell something more than I do?? :-)

and finally,
born babies
She had a crash on baby Petru recently. (She calls him "Pete")

with whom we spent a little bit too much time

got attached to him
so, at the end of the visit she wouldn't let him go home anymore. In the end, she was right, wasn't she? If Petru wasn't our, then why in the world did he come our way and why did he enter our home? :-)

Sweet kisses and lots of baby love from us!
Ralu & Co.

P.S.: I have a feeling she will have a crash also on baby Teodor, soon. She met him today for the 1st time and with him will be a little bit harder, as she has a competitor already! And the competitor is a really determined one!!

The sweetest word we've ever heard: "păpuşa" (the doll)

Adrian mentioned the word on Sunday. Ilaria liked it and since then she keeps on repeating it. I'm sure she knows she melts our hearts by doing this, as, when she wants us to stay with her longer or when we are sad, she suddenly smile and say the sweetest word we've ever heard. I could spend hours just looking at her saying it:

What did Ilaria do lately

To all my fans out there, especially to my family: please excuse my late laziness (let's call like this the lack of time I struggle lately).
Here I am back with a post about Ilaria's activity over the past 2 months. I have to mention that Ilaria is much more active than you can read from this blog. But her "lazy" mamma is not using her camera at it's true possible value. Oh, these mammas.... They never succeed to do everything in time and to please everybody...

So let's start!

Immediately when weather seemed to be sunny and good (end of March) we wanted to take advantage of outside activities. On a too windy day we took a trip on hills around Mărcuş:

Ilaria was happy to dig in the ground with bare-hands. As a total coincidence, 2 days later we realized she caught a cold. Fortunately she got better, without fever!

**********************************

She loves clothes. And she takes any opportunity to show us this thing. Here presenting some ballerina USA  fashion:

As you can see, in the meantime she cut her hair. Or, to tell the whole truth: her hair was cut by her clumsy left-handed mother. But Ilaria is still confident. She knows that hair is just an accessory and a cute girl stays cute any haircut she would get ;-)

**********************************

She also loves adrenaline. Here dangerously playing with daddy,

this time proudly wearing vintage daddy's trousers, more than 30 years of age :-)

**********************************

On Easter Holiday Ilaria enjoyed nature a lot, at Sighisoara, together with her relatives:
She participated for the first time at Easter eggs crashing championship,
where winner of the year was my grandmother:

Also in Easter Holiday we've visited a great place near Sighisoara, Hanul Dracula (http://www.dracul.ro/). It worth to pay a visit there. Nature is wonderful  and for children is quite good, as they have some animals to be seen.

**********************************

Here is how Ilaria lived the wedding moment (William & Kate's):

She was busy waving them back a lot :-) So, fortunately, she didn't notice mommy's emotions.. We wish them a very happy and long life together!

**********************************

Ilaria presenting some more fashion on Petru T.'s baptizing day, on her first day ever with only 10 minutes nap over the day!

    (30th April 2011)

**********************************

Two Sundays ago we were fortunate to witness an ad hoc concert held by tens of tenors and sopranos, on Noua lake:
We were amazed by the show!

**********************************

Again Ilaria showing us some US fashion, on Anca M.'s wedding day, on Ilaria's first day ever with 0 minutes nap over the day!!

    (07th May 2011)

And last but not least: Ilaria is patiently waiting for a brother or a sister :-)

Kisses from us!

Some of Ilaria's hobbies lately

Ilaria is full of energy and ideas lately. She even shortened her afternoon sleeping time to half, probably in order to have more time for her hobbies.
Above all nice things in this world, she loves people the most. When we are outside she is very busy with having eye contact, smiling and exchanging few "words" with everybody. If the other person don't give a damn, she won't insist. She "reads" people so well already!

She is also passionate about:

* writing:
She seems to be right handed. When using her left hand she is really clumsy and immediately change the pen to right hand.

* dancing with Daddy every single evening. They even have "their song": Under Paris skies

* chasing doves in parks

* using curtains as handkerchief (from where did she learn this? no idea! I hope that's pure imagination)

* digging the soil into the flowers pots, with her bare hands, even when she has tools available!

* making herself useful when Daddy vacuums the floors:

Have a funny day!
Kisses!

Happy Dragobete's Day!

Immediately after Valentine's day I've noticed strange behavior at our little Cupid girl.
I was trying and trying and trying to catch the moments on my camera, but when the camera was on, all evidences were off and that's what I was getting most of the times:

After hours and days of spying I finally have the proof of Ilaria's 1st (and I would say "inappropriate") love:

:-))

Have a Happy Dragobete's Day!
A concerned paparazzi-mama.

:-)

P.S.: Dragobete's day is a traditional Romanian Holiday, the correspondent of Valentine's day.

New sounds and word

Ilaria discovered she can use her tongue to make even more interesting sounds, in addition to the already spoken "tata" and "mama":

On Monday, on Mommy's insistence, she said her 3rd word ever: "carte" (book)! As stated before, this girl promises so much already ;-)
Have a nice week-end!

I would freeze time NOW

Back in my childhood I remember hearing adult people saying in the background, with nostalgic voices: "childhood... these are the most beautiful years!". We were playing carefree, without understanding the real meaning of those words, not feeling the time passing fast at all and, of course, feeling immortal. Summer holidays (15th June - 15th September) were for me entire lifetimes, passing slow, full of activities and I was even forgetting the hand write. I was having a big problem when starting school after the long summer holiday: it was hard for me to distinguish between "E" and "3".
Back then I didn't feel like they were "the most beautiful years", as I didn't have what to compare them to.

Then, when in high school and university, I heard again the same words: "these are your best years! young + healthy + carefree = fun". But again I didn't feel those years were my best ones. I think I was hoping: "something even better should come for me!".

I don't know what's in store for my future and since nothing is guaranteed, ask me NOW about freezing the time! Yes, that's the very stage of my lifetime when I would press "pause" button on my life's remote if I would have something like this.
I'm sure for me motherhood is the waited "best part of my life". And, on the other hand, I don't feel so immortal anymore :-) And I think that's another key toward the conscious happiness.

I would freeze time now, to live forever similar stories like these:
* me working on my gobelin, while Adrian and Ilaria are running through the house, chasing each other and laughing loud. These are moments when I think to myself: "what more I could ask from life? really nothing! health and a happy family are enough to declare myself the happiest!"
* I love how Adrian sets up Ilaria's chairs in the evening, after she falls asleep:
We call this image: "Baby bar closed. Sorry, we serve but water until tomorrow morning 8AM"
* we've been promoting hardly our titles ("mama" & "tata") lately. Yesterday morning I was blessed to hear "mama" for the 1st time in my life! Until then, Adrian was proud to be preferred in Ilaria's dialogues:
** the 1st time I've heard a clear "ma..." it was followed by a "...ta" :-))
** once, while speaking on the phone with Grandma from Sighisoara, Ilaria was asked by Grandma to say "mama" and she answered back with "tata", 5 times in a row :-))

P.S.: thanks to all of you who participated at my 2nd poll. Here are the results:
I'm happy to see that I have traditional readers who still enjoy the fun of snow sledding.
@ the 3 of you who answered "No": maybe you should seriously take into consideration buying a sledge. Global warming is not a joke and who knows how much time is left for us to enjoy snow!?

Kisses!

Can't take my eyes off you

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You are like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.

Pardon the way that I stare.
There's nothing else to compare.
The sight of you leaves me weak.
There are no words left to speak,

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

Bears, bears, everywhere

We live in Brasov, the most beautiful town of Romania ( after my native town, Sighisoara ;-) ), a mountain town surrounded by woods and often visited by bears! You can find out more on Brasov's and Romanian bears by watching this wonderful movie: YouTubeMovie.
I think I also have something in common with bears: when Ilaria was little I was so tensioned and jealous on anybody who was going close to my baby, just like a mother bear. It's known how dangerous it is to meet a mother bear with babies. The same was meeting me in first months of Ilaria's life! My mother knows the best, from her own experience..
So, it's not a big surprise that my daughter has an awful hobby: she likes to dig into the trash, just like the little teddy bears:
Sometimes I find her sweet doing this and I let her free to explore. And she's so capable! ;-)

Sweet family moments

* as told before, Ilaria loves speaking on the phone. She takes as phone anything she finds around: puppet, pair of socks wrapped as a ball, slipper, her hand,...
After about 10 days break from this custom (she seemed to forget there were phones on this world), on Friday evening, while spending our time in kitchen, Adrian told me "did you observe Ilaria is not so in love with phones anymore?". The next second Ilaria was saying "aaaaaaAAAAAaaaAAaaaaAAAAAAAA" with the boiled egg she was having in her hand in that moment, glued to her right ear.
It was the very 1st moment when we realized she truly understands what we are talking about, not only what we are doing.

* on Sunday we tried (again) to make Ilaria say "mama" and "tata", by repeating her: "say mama / tata". Until Sunday, in our best cases, we were obtaining "mamamamamamama..." or "tatatatatatatatatatata...". This time we were happy to hear few times the simple and beautiful "tata". Regarding "mama", all we got were negative head-shakes, accompanied by laugh.
Mommy has to wait a little bit more :-)

Merry Christmas!

May Christmas bring light, joy and hope in every home and soul!

(lovely link)

And some more angelic postures:

Merry Christmas!
